our first mother's and father's day

mother's day - 5.9.2010

my first mother's day was great! to be honest, before i had xavier i was a little sad because i didnt think i was going to be able to celebrate mother's day this year. i would have just missed it. my due date was 6 days passed mother's day and who knows how long after my due date i would have went. so when i had xavier in april i was happy that i didnt miss it!

i just got out of the hospital 5 days before and was still really sore from the c-section so we stayed home. jeremy made me breakfast and did all of the diaper changes for the day. it was really nice. we also watched movies and just relaxed. xavier was still sleeping a lot so it was a very easy day.

one thing that really sticks out in my mind about mother's day is that i woke up feeling kind of weird. it was like this overwhelming feeling of always wanting to be there for xavier and never letting something happen to me where i wouldnt be there for him. i dont know how to explain it. i was still having problems with my high blood pressure so maybe that was it? im not sure. but it made me feel funny all day.

overall my day was really great! i love being a mom, especially to xavier!

father's day - 6.20.2010

when i asked jeremy how his first father's day was, this is what he said: "it was all a father could ask for." cheesy, right?! haha i woke up and took xavier out of our room so jeremy could sleep. i woke jeremy up after i was done feeding xavier so i could make him breakfast. bacon, eggs, and toast is what i made. simple and sweet. he liked it. we lounged around for most of the day. at around 6ish we left for dinner. we were meeting up with jose and the fam to follow them to this mexican restaurant in stuttgart.

we got to the place and it was really nice. the menu was more of authentic mexican which is a lot different than "tex mex" that is usually in the states. we both got taquitos! they were pretty good, but i think i prefer what we get in the states. the hernandez's know the owner(he's mexican and is married to a german woman!), so he came out and chatted a bit with us. xavier woke up and needed to be changed but they didnt have a changing station so we left. when we got home we watched some tv and then went to bed. jeremy had the next day off so we didnt have to go to bed super early or anything. =)

overall i would say that our first mother's and father's days were great! its going to be so amazing to get a little handmade card from xavier or a little planted flower in a plastic cup! we look forward to the many years of being parents.

  1. I'm glad your first Mother's Day and Father's Day went well! It's awesome that you took family pictures on both days. We have pictures of Maizie by herself on both days and a picture of me holding Maizie on Father's Day, but that's it. We'll have to remember to get pictures next year.

You said what you made Jeremy for breakfast but you didn't say what he made you for breakfast!

Oh yeah, and I bet it was nice not having to change diapers for a day :)
